The Devi Purana, usually referred to as Srimad Devi Bhagavatam, is one of the several writings by Maharishi Veda Vyasa. It has 18000 verses and is broken up into 12 chapters and many sections. It is the only Purana that Veda Vyasa refers to as "Mahapurana," or the grand Purana, at the conclusion of each chapter, despite the fact that it is categorised as an upapurana (sub-Purana). The Divine Mother, as she is referred to in all scriptures, is the being beyond and above the Trinity of Gods and all Devas, as is reiterated in Vyasa's narration. The anecdotes in the book not only prove this but also go into detail about the Devi's multiple incarnations. The Puranas are primarily compilations of tales told by Suta, who received them through his master Vyasa.
