The Theatre Royale in London is celebrating Christmas, and journalist Daphne King is keen to unravel a strange mystery. January 1935 A Christmas Carol, directed by Chester Harrison, has had a problematic run while touring local theatres. A few days before Christmas, the company arrives at its final destination, London's Theatre Royale, with cast tensions at an all-time high. But tragedy occurs on the first night: "Scrooge" passes away on stage, ostensibly from a heart attack. The show must go on, though. Up until an old rival of Chester's is killed in a dressing room, that is. Those connected to the production are they being eliminated one by one?
