The Ahoms is an epic retelling of the Ahom dynasty's 600-year dominance. A band of valiant Shan or Tai warriors headed to Upper Assam from their home in Myanmar in 1228 CE under the leadership of Sukapha. They built the foundation of the formidable Ahom empire here. Sukapha's successors ruled over a larger portion of the Brahmaputra Valley for about six centuries till the British seized it in 1826. Few dynasties have had such an extended period of nearly uninterrupted reign. The pre-colonial Assamese nation was mostly a result of the Ahoms.
