As an Indian-English writer, Amitabh Ghosh captured the attention of Buddhist readers with his first novel, The Circle of Reason. The Shadow Lines is his second novel. It won him the Sahitya Akademi Award (1989). Along with the colorful account of various incidents between an Indian and an English family, the narrator has added the memoirs of an old man.
