Arrakis' sand-blasted planet has turned green, irrigated, and fruitful. Old Paul Atreides, who guided the desert Fremen to dominance in politics and religion throughout the galaxy, is no longer with us. The blossoming of their land, however, carries the seeds of its own catastrophe for the Dune children. The destruction of the enormous sandworms caused by the changing environment is terrible for the global economy. Leto and Ghanima, Paul Atreides' twin children and his heirs, are able to envision potential answers; nevertheless, when zealots question the reign of the all-conquering Atreides empire, more dangers than just the economy loom.
