Eka-patni is a spouse who is completely and eternally committed to a single woman. Eka-bani is an archer who hits his target with the first shot. Eka-vachani is a king who always keeps his word. He is Maryada Purushottam Ram, the highest defender of social norms, a member of the Raghu family and the crown jewel of the solar dynasty. He is also Vishnu's seventh avatar, the deity who brings order to the material universe. Chanting the name of Ram and hearing his story, the Ramayan, are believed by Hindus to provide stability, hope, peace, and prosperity during trying and turbulent times. Ram is the only Hindu deity who is venerated as a king, and despite being derided by feminists and usurped by politicians, he maintains his calm majesty.
