Matthew Cuthbert and his sister Marilla are astonished to say the least when the creative, outspoken orphan Anne Shirley arrives on Prince Edward Island. All things considered, the Cuthberts had asked the orphanage to send a boy to assist with tasks around their farm. Unrealistic aspirations and autonomous behaviour from noisy Anne were definitely not what they bargained for. Even while these same characteristics cause Anne to experience accident after mishap as she makes friends and learns about a fascinating new life in the odd town of Avonlea, her positive outlook quickly wins over Matthew and Marilla.
