Colours of Kanchenjunga II consists of twenty-five curated Indian Nepali short stories of the lives and times of those living under the shadows of the mighty Kanchenjunga. This volume follows the success of the first Colours of Kanchenjunga, published in 2020 and already in its third imprint. Most of the stories are from the mid-twentieth century which saw various forms and experimentations of the Nepali short-story fictional genre. Some of them can be considered as classics in their own right, forming a part of Nepali literature in schools and colleges. No study of Indian Nepali literature would be complete without the inclusion of these stories. These stories, along with a couple of them from modern times, deal mostly with social realism and psychoanalytical fiction. All in all, along with the previous volume, this book could easily be classified as collector?s items, offering insights in the rich literature and culture of Indian Nepalis, especially for the non-Nepali readers. "Curating choicest stories from Nepali literature, Sharda Chettri's forte as a translator lies in her potential to present a melange of voices that echo varied aspects of the community. Translation is a veritable medium for bridging worlds together, for allowing conversations to happen, for encouraging the need to understand the world through connected living. And Sharda Chettri with this second volume of stories translated from Nepali to English, has once again become the storyteller who weaves facets of life and living with care and kindness towards the ethos of the community, and language that binds us together."
