The book is the second instalment in the Soul Eaters series. Crushed (Soul Eaters #2) is the sequel to Cracked (Soul Eaters #1). Meda is back with a friend in this successor to the first one. With the battle over and the choice made, Meda Melange has given up her mantle and decides with conviction to follow the virtuous path of a crusader by undergoing training. She at least wants to give it a shot as demon hordes want her dead and the crusaders are the only thing standing between her and the demon hordes. Meda wants to join the crusaders but they are the least convinced that she can be the girl that they want her to be. A good-looking, half-demon lad offers the opportunity to escape and Meda is caught in between. After all, everyone knows that the biggest weakness of a good girl is a bad boy.
