Gitanjali is a collection of songs (lyrical poems) written by Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali. The word 'Gitanjali' is made by combining 'Geet' and 'Anjali' which means - gift of songs. Rabindranath was influenced by Sufi mysticism and Vaishnav poetry. Still, in depicting emotions, he does not seem to be an imitation of these poets. Like love for man unknowingly transforms into love for God. He does not believe that God is like an Adam seed. For him, love is the beginning and God is the end! It is not enough to just say that Gitanjali has only mysticism in its tone. It also deals with medieval poets. Sharply against their values. However, the tone of the entire Gitanjali is not like this. The feeling of dedication is the main subject matter in it. This is Rabindranath's mystery-oriented work born out of complete curiosity.
