Suresh and Mahim were two childhood friends, but there was a big difference in their livelihood and religion. Mahim is a poor house boy with a small hut and little land back in his village. She has to depend on Suresh for further studies as Suresh's parents were very rich.Suresh is a doctor while Mahim was waiting for his law exam results. At one point, Mahimar's marriage to a Brahmin girl named Achala was verbally arranged by his father. Suresh is not happy about this so he wants to go to Achala's house to save his friend from Brahm girl. But instead Suresh falls in love with her at first sight. So he kept going to Achala's house on one pretext or the other and finally Suresh managed to convince his father to fix his marriage with her.But Achala, manages to escape from her home and marries Mahim and moves to his village. But sadly Achala suspects Mahim of having an affair with a girl named Mrinalini. Meanwhile, when Suresh goes to Mahim's village, suddenly one night Mahim's house catches fire. At Achla's request, Mahim sends Achla back to his parents' house with Suresh. During this time, Mahim was suffering from high fever and was treated and looked after by Suresh. They decide to change the weather but Suresh puts Mahim on another train and deliberately forces Achala to come with him. Circumstances marked them as husband and wife which they could not accept. Eventually Suresh contracted the plague, and died while visiting an area affected by the disease. Maheem and Achala reunite after clearing all their confusion.
