This textbook is the result of the authors' numerous efforts to close the gap for giving a necessary course on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), which was recently mandated by the AICTE. A book of this kind will soon be required in a number of higher education institutions across the nation because the New Education Policy (NEP) has also provided a clear trajectory for teaching IKS in the higher education curriculum. The goal of the book is to give engineering and science students an introduction to IKS's epistemology and ontology in a way that they can understand, relate to, and investigate further if they have a strong interest in the topic. The remainder of the book traces IKS and concludes with a brief section on its fundamental ideas. . After a formal and concise introduction to IKS, the book provides certain foundational concepts applicable across all domains of Science and Engineering. These form the second part. The Science applications are laid out in Part 3, Engineering applications in Part 4 and other important topics in the final part of the book.
