Gulzar, a veteran of Hindi film, is one of South Asia's best poets and lyricists, and his songs have touched the lives of many people. He is still as well-liked and sensitive a recorder of our feelings as he was more than fifty years ago. Gulzar discusses the creation of some of his most enduring songs, ranging from "Mora gora ang lai le" (Bandini; 1963) and "Dil dhoondta hai" (Mausam; 1975) to "Jiya jale" (Dil Se; 1998) and "Dil toh bachcha hai ji," in this collection of interviews with the acclaimed author and documentary filmmaker Nasreen Munni Ka (Ishqiya; 2010). He also talks about other famous musicians' songs, such as Shailendra and Sahir Ludhianvi, his favourite composers, such as SD and RD Burman, Hemant Kumar, and AR Rahman, and playback singers, such as Lata Mangeshkar.
