Micromanufacturing involves design, fabrication and assembly of compounds machined or manufactured at micron and sub-micron levels. It also includes nano-materials and nano-fabrication techniques in which nano-scale materials and processes are involved.

These processes are beyond the traditional mechanical means of manufacturing and hence distinct micromanufacturing techniques have been developed. Many of the micro-manufacturing technologies can be considered as new, innovative and exotic and are being continuously developed.
