The most remarkable feature of this book of English Translation is that it presents a balanced combination of both the traditional and structural techniques of translation. It is probably the first book that teaches the learner the art and technique of applying both the traditional and structural methods of translation as the situation may demand. All structures from the very primary to the advanced and complicated structures of Complex and Compound sentences of all Tenses and all types???Affirmative, Negative and Interrogative???both in Active and Passive Voices and in Direct and Indirect Narration have been well explained, illustrated and exemplified, and for each structure a Structural Formula and a Tabular Format has been evolved. This would enable the student to keep the structures at his fingertips and to translate any kind of sentence from Hindi into English correctly and idiomatically. In order to help the student further, detailed lists of the three Forms of Verbs, three Degrees of Adjectives, Appropriate use of Prepositions, Conversion of Numbers and Genders have been given. Equivalent English versions of Hindi Phrases, Idioms, Proverbs, Adverbs and Adverbial Phrases and typical words, phrases and sentences of courtesy, etiquette and good manners have also been given for the same purpose. Further, English versions of typical and conventional sentences spoken in Hindi in different day-to-day situations of life and mood have also been translated into English. This is meant to enable the learner to speak in English in different situations of life without any pause, stammering or hesitation. The Second Part of the book deals with the art and technique of translation from English into Hindi. An attempt has been made in this Part to bring to comparison English structures with Hindi structures. It is for the first time that such an attempt has been made in any book. Structural Formulas and Tabular Formats have been evolved for them too. Solved passages for models and a number of passages for practice with helping hints have also been given. This will give sufficient training to the student in the art of translation from English into Hindi. In short, this is a Book of Translation complete in itself in all respects. The student would need no external help for acquiring full proficiency and competence in the art and technique of translation from Hindi into English, and from English into Hindi. While translating from Hindi into English, students often find it difficult to get a correct English word for the Hindi word. In order to overcome this difficulty a brief Hindi-English Dictionary of about two thousand words has been given at the end of the book.
