This is one of the sequels to Perumal Murugan's groundbreaking Nar-Narishwar (One Part Woman). It explores what happens to the protagonist Ponna after the events described in the first book. In this book, Kali has to live with the consequences of Ponna's visit to the temple festival in the first book. He is determined to punish her for her 'betrayal'. Kali and Ponna are torn apart by the incident, and must now rebuild their life together in the wake of this.
