Traditionally, history has focused on regal narratives. His-story has always taken precedence over her-story in the long tradition of history writing. Even though the stories of queens are romantic and portrayed in the form of fairy tales, it is not uncommon for these tales to end tragically. Not all of India's monarchs are still revered today. While some are lauded, historians have mostly overlooked others. Six queens have been chosen by Queeny Pradhan for Ranis and the Raj. The British Raj, the East India Company, and the Crown were all enemies of the six nineteenth-century queens. Pradhan has made an effort to create an engaging historical narrative for each of these significant figures in Indian history, starting with the Rani of Sirmur, who was the first to deal with the British authorities, and moving on to Rani Chennamma, Rani Jindan, Begum Zeenat Mahal, Rani Lakshmi Bai, and the Sikkim Queen from the 1860s to 1890s. In contrast to the biographical style used in conventional history writing, the research in this book can be classified as "microhistory."The life stories of these queens are fragmented due to the 'silences' and 'invisibilization' in political history of the time, and this book aims to fill these gaps.
