The present work captioned as Sociological Philosophy of Education, among several books, published in India, claims to be the most comprehensive. This lays down the basic concepts of sociological foundations of education as required to be understood by every specialist of the subject. Part one of this book lays down the fundamentals of education required to be understood by every scholar and student of the subject alike. It includes basic aspects of education; educational values; educational aims, functions and priorities; institutions and agencies of education; distinction between training, instructions and teaching and education as well as curriculum of education. Part two of this book deals with sociological foundations of education, which discusses various aspects of the subject in 27 chapters. The emphasis has been laid on the nature of educational sociology, education and society, education in Indian social context, social mobility, child's socialisation, social change, social control, culture and place of family, community, social values, modernisation as well as religious and moral values in education.
