With the needs of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in mind, this textbook has been developed to provide a clear presentation of the various areas of Systems and Synthetic Biology. Additionally, it is intended that this book will serve as a mentor for new scientists who want to make contributions to this field but are unsure of where to start. Two sections make up the entire book. Systems biology will be covered in the first segment, which will focus on the fundamental concepts, problems with biological complexity, analytical techniques, and numerous modelling facets. The design methodologies of biological systems, ranging from straightforward DNA/RNA fragments, switches and oscillators, molecular pathways, to a fully functional synthetic cell, will be discussed in the second section. Lastly, the book will offer expert opinions in legal, safety, security and social issues to present a well-balanced information both for students and scientists.
