In Locating Indian Literature, the concept of "Indian literature" is investigated in relation to new discourses on marginality, place, resistance, and the function of translation in the creation and destruction of literary traditions. It highlights the diverse and performative aspects of Indian literatures while challenging theoretical approaches that depict it as an essentialist category. E.V. Ramakrishnan outlines the goal of "provincializing "Indian literature"" in the book's opening section and looks at the dialogic intersections between legal abstractions and the evaluative function of criticism. Additionally, it challenges historical assertions, memory reluctance, and dialectical relationships between dialects and geographical regions. Readings of Malayalam literary texts that concretize the diversity of literary traditions are presented in the second segment.
